AI Terms & Usage Policy

Rules and disclosures for Grein’s AI-powered features.

Effective date: 26 September 2026

These AI Terms & Usage Policy (“AI Terms”) apply when you use any Grein feature identified as AI-powered, including the AI assistant and any future feature that generates, analyses, transforms, summarises, organises, recommends, or acts on workspace content using artificial intelligence (“AI Features”). These AI Terms supplement the Grein Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. AI disclosure

Grein clearly identifies AI-powered interactions so that users understand when they are interacting with an AI system. AI responses are generated by software, not by a human member of the Grein team. Where applicable, Grein will implement transparency measures required by law for AI-generated or AI-manipulated content.

2. What the AI Features may do

Depending on the feature and your plan, Grein AI may help you brainstorm, summarise, organise, create or rewrite text, interpret project context, suggest creative directions, create or modify workspace items, or perform supported actions on a canvas. Grein AI can currently create, move, edit, and delete blocks when instructed. Available capabilities may change over time.

3. Inputs, context and outputs

“Input” means prompts, instructions, files, images, text, links, project context, or other information submitted or made available to an AI Feature. “Output” means content returned or actions suggested or performed by an AI Feature.

You retain your rights in Inputs to the extent you own them. Subject to applicable law and third-party rights, Grein does not claim ownership of your Output merely because it was generated through an AI Feature.

AI Output may be similar or identical to output provided to other users because machine-learning systems can produce similar results from similar requests. Grein cannot guarantee that Output is unique, copyrightable, or free from third-party claims.

4. Use of workspace context

To perform a task, Grein AI may access the prompt and relevant context from the canvas where the assistant is invoked. Depending on what is present and needed for the request, that context may include text blocks, images, uploaded files, links, and other content on the canvas. Grein uses this context to fulfil the requested AI action and operate the feature.

Do not submit highly sensitive, regulated, confidential, or restricted information to an AI Feature unless you have authority to do so and understand how the feature processes that information.

5. Third-party AI providers, connected accounts and training

Grein may provide AI Features using models hosted or selected by Grein, including models made available through third-party AI infrastructure. Relevant Inputs and canvas context may therefore be transmitted to Grein’s configured infrastructure, the applicable infrastructure provider, and the underlying model provider to generate a response or perform an action.

In supported Grein desktop experiences, you may also connect your own Claude or ChatGPT account and use models available through that account. In that case, the request is sent through the connected provider’s sign-in and service, and your relationship with that provider—including its billing, usage limits, data practices, retention terms, and model availability—is governed by that provider’s applicable terms and policies. Grein does not receive or store your Claude or ChatGPT password, and does not control the provider account or its billing.

Grein does not use User Content, AI prompts, AI responses, files, images, links, or other private workspace content to train Grein models. Grein also does not intentionally enable third-party model training on Grein user data processed through AI Features that Grein controls. Third-party providers, including providers accessed through your connected account, may process data for purposes such as operating, securing, or monitoring their services in accordance with their own applicable terms and configurations.

Additional information about personal-data processing appears in the Grein Privacy Policy.

6. AI can be wrong

AI systems can hallucinate, misunderstand context, omit material information, generate inappropriate content, or confidently state incorrect information. Output should be treated as a draft or suggestion, not as verified fact.

  • Review important Output before using or sharing it.
  • Check facts, citations, names, figures, legal rights, and production details independently.
  • Do not rely on Grein AI as a substitute for qualified legal, medical, financial, safety, or other regulated professional advice.
  • You remain responsible for creative, editorial, production, commercial, and legal decisions made using AI Output.

7. Intellectual property and third-party rights

You must not knowingly use AI Features to infringe copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, confidentiality, contractual, or other rights. Before commercially using Output that substantially resembles protected third-party material, you should conduct appropriate review and obtain any necessary permissions.

Grein does not represent or warrant that AI-generated material is eligible for copyright protection or that use of Output will not infringe another person’s rights.

8. Prohibited AI uses

You may not use Grein AI to:

  • Create, facilitate, or materially assist unlawful activity.
  • Generate or distribute malware, credential theft, phishing, or instructions intended to compromise systems or accounts.
  • Exploit, sexualise, groom, or endanger children.
  • Generate non-consensual intimate imagery or sexually exploitative content.
  • Impersonate another person deceptively, commit fraud, or intentionally mislead others about material facts.
  • Make or substantially automate high-impact decisions about a person in employment, housing, lending, insurance, education, healthcare, legal services, or similar domains without appropriate lawful processes, safeguards, and human review.
  • Infer or exploit highly sensitive personal traits in a manner prohibited by applicable law.
  • Violate intellectual-property, privacy, confidentiality, or data-protection rights.
  • Circumvent Grein usage limits, safeguards, access controls, or plan restrictions.

9. Actions performed on a canvas

Grein AI may create, move, edit, or delete blocks and otherwise change workspace content in response to a user instruction. You are responsible for reviewing AI-performed actions and Output before relying on them. Grein may introduce confirmations, undo controls, version history, or other safeguards for particular actions, but the availability of those safeguards may vary by feature.

10. Availability and limits

AI Features may be limited by plan, credits, rate limits, model availability, geography, safety systems, or third-party-provider availability. Grein may change the model or provider used to deliver an AI Feature, provided we continue to handle personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

11. Enforcement

Grein may block individual AI requests, limit AI access, suspend AI functionality, or take account action when reasonably necessary to enforce these AI Terms, protect users, comply with law, or address security or abuse. Serious or repeated violations may lead to suspension or termination under the Terms of Service.

12. Changes to these AI Terms

AI technology and regulation change quickly. We may update these AI Terms to reflect new capabilities, providers, risks, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated where required by law.
