Features

Everything you need to think a project through.

Grein is a visual canvas for thinking through and developing projects. This page lists what you can do on it today, what's on the free plan, and what needs Pro.

Example board

An open canvas, not a document.

Put blocks anywhere on a board that pans and zooms. Group related blocks into a titled list, connect them with arrows, and give a sub-topic its own nested board when it outgrows the space.

Tidy up packs scattered blocks around the middle of the screen. Undo and redo cover every edit, and Cmd/Ctrl + K searches every block in every project you can reach.

Example board

Every kind of material on one board.

Notes with rich text and colors, images, video, audio, links with live previews, PDFs, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, code blocks, and sketches drawn with a pressure-sensitive pen.

Search Pexels for stock photos and video, Freesound for sound effects, and Spotify for music without leaving the board. Free accounts upload files up to 25 MB; Pro allows larger files.

Example board

AI that reads the board you're on.

On Pro, Dia, Grein's AI assistant, works with what's on the board: it answers questions about it, suggests ideas, and can make the changes for you. Peek, in beta, offers a suggestion while you work.

You can also connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity over MCP and work on your boards from those apps, on your own subscription.

Example board

Built for working together.

Invite people as editors or viewers and edit the same board live. Comment on a board or a single block, reply in threads, @mention people, and keep the project's discussion in its own chat.

Share a public view link when someone just needs to look, or embed a public board on a website.

Your first project in five minutes

A quick way to see whether Grein fits how you work.

  1. 1

    Create a project.

Give it a name and a one-line goal. The goal is what Dia and Peek work toward.

  2. 2

Start from a template or a blank board.

Templates set up the sections for a task, like a roadmap, a brief or a literature review.

  3. 3

    Drop your material in.

Paste links, drag in files and images, and write the notes you already have.

  4. 4

    Group what belongs together.

Pull related blocks into titled groups, connect them, and move big topics into nested boards.

  5. 5

    Bring someone in.

Invite a collaborator, leave a comment, or ask Dia what's missing.
